Dr. Thao completed his undergraduate degree at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island and received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School. He completed his general surgery residency at St. John Hospital in Detroit, MI and received further training in plastic surgery in Akron, OH .

Dr. Thao is double board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery, an elite group of surgeons dedicated to the highest standards of patient care and surgical excellence.

Dr. Thao performs cosmetic and reconstructive surgery procedures in Minnesota. His professional areas of expertise are in cosmetic surgery; particularly facial rejuvenation, body contouring, and breast surgery. He uses advanced techniques in breast augmentation, short scar breast reduction, breast lift, and endoscopic brow lift. Dr. Thao is trained in breast reconstruction using autogenous tissues such as the abdominal muscles, latissmus muscles, and prosthetic implants.
